I told someone the other day, “You are bigger than where you stand.” I explained that they have talent and gifts to serve broader, but that it’s all up to them. “Yes, it does take work,” I said. “But you're doing work anyway. Why not put all of you in it and do what you were born to do. You are theater and the arts – and it shows; you're not fooling anybody,” I said. When I said you're bigger than where you stand, they paused as if to think about it for a moment. “I have never heard it that way,” they said.
“Wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it.”
— David Starr Jordan
I thought to myself, “In order to do things His way, rather than our way, takes faith and trust, which will ultimately remove all doubt and all fear.” When we trust in what we know we have, that which is placed within us, we can step out with courage. Nobody said it would be easy. The question is: Are you ready and willing to do the work that it takes to prove you are bigger?
You've been standing there so long; it's time to grow and go face the giant. What’s your giant? Is it your circumstances, or is it fear? Do you trust yourself?
Believe that you will learn more when you decide to go forward. Being bigger than where you stand means you are bigger than the circumstances that you've accepted as being bigger than you. Do you want to meet the challenge? These are questions that we all face at some point. However, when you answer and replace doubt with certainty, impossible with possible, disbelief with belief, fear with courage and determination, and distrust with trust, it will help you extinguish fear and accept the challenges that lie ahead.
Realizing your dreams is beyond where you stand (or have camped out). You must grow and expand your territory. Know that you are much bigger than you appear from where you stand. You can slay the giant of fear and doubt that's blocking your path.
“Giants are not what we think they are. The same qualities that appear to give them strength are often the sources of great weakness.” – Malcolm Gladwell
Don’t be perplexed by the size of the situation. It’s not invincible; it can be slain (conquered) once you decide that what’s on the other side means more to you than where you stand.
