Okay, you want to be an author. Is that right? So, what is the problem? Is there a good reason why you haven't done it yet? Are you struggling with whether to do it or not -- or when will be the best time? Will you choose to do something or continue to do nothing? You cannot expect to ever write a book if you're struggling to make the decision.
Struggle vs. Benefit: If you find yourself thinking about the book you want to write or the book you should have written a long time ago, then you're the person I'm talking to in this post. Now, let's get to the root of your problem that's causing the hold-up. We often hear that fear is the cause that keeps a person stuck. But that's not the person I'm speaking to here. I'll share an incident that recently happened to me: I was speaking with an acquaintance of mine who has an extensive background in biology. Somehow, we diverged and began to talk about healthy eating habits as a lifestyle and the benefits. What he shared armed me with information that I'd never known before. In that moment, I knew I had to do one of three things:
- Do something now
- Do nothing
- Delay it for another time (which often results in #2)
Choosing to Do Something: Sometimes we struggle. But struggling with yourself is a mindset. When I realized the benefits, it was easy to decide to do something. Don't make it a struggle to do that which will benefit you in the long run. How simple life would be if we stopped seeing benefits as a struggle?
It Doesn't Have to Be a Struggle Unless You Make It One: If you're uncertain and can't seem to make a decision on the what, when, or how to get it done, start with the benefits and your mindset. Check out this easy worksheet: I've Got a Book in Me
