Smart, Young, Aspiring Professionals!
First impressions count.
Do you have a professional image that sells? Before you step into an interview, are you mindful of your persona? Do you know how you are being perceived? To ensure you have the right image, you need to know The ABC's of a Professional Image that Sells. Having this practical knowledge can help you be intentional every day. These are foundational skills that give you the right presence, influence, and impact that can boost your career or business exponentially.
It’s funny how life connects us with people we would never have met if we had chosen a different path. I was happy to be a speaker the other day at the Leadership by Design: Girl’s Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Program, hosted by The Color of Reason - Women's Community Council. There were 14 teenage girls in attendance, ages 14 to 17. They are students enrolled at three of the local high schools, Dudley High, Andrews High, and Grimsley High. The Color of Reason, a non-profit organization, is on the move as they work to empower young girls in leadership and entrepreneurship. My presentation, The ABC’s of a Professional Image that Sells, was the closing session.
I've spoken on the topic of a professional image on several occasions including at the Women’s Executive Connection for the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, the Charlotte Black Chamber, the Junior League, and other events. But there is nothing more rewarding than having teens engaged, each sharing their view of what a professional image is, should be, and how it can benefit them. They were eager, excited, and active participants. These young ladies have an opportunity to soar as they grow toward the careers they will pursue in the future. If you ask them about the ABCs of a professional image, I’m sure they can tell you. They are also determined not to let anything stop them from achieving their dreams. Knowing the ABC formula for success will help them develop the right mindset and habits that will lead to the career of their dreams. How is this so? Because they now possess the keys to unlocking the door to their career success.
Much appreciation to you and your organization, Cynthia Ricks (President and Founder) and Sonya Ricks (Program Chair). You are making a difference!
