Why is Valentine’s Day so celebrated?
First, if we’re going to talk about Valentine’s Day and its association with love, then we need to also address “falling out of love.” So, let’s deal with the latter first. It’s been said that the divorce rate is at an all time high. At least that’s what I’ve heard said. So I decided to Google it to check the facts for myself. Within minutes, I found evidence that says different: “The Truth About The Divorce Rate Is Surprisingly Optimistic.” Since this finding suited my intent for writing this blog, I decided to search no further. Sometimes you’ve just got to stop while you’re ahead.
Love never dies. It transcends time.
Since God is Love, next I decided to find out how many times the word love is mentioned in the Bible. Here’s what I discovered. Keep in mind, the number may depend on which version of the Bible you reference. So, I randomly selected the King James Version. According to my Google search, this version mentions love 131 times in the Old Testament and 179 times in the New Testament, which equals 310 times. Although it may not be within the same context, the idea is to show that love transcends time. Love Never Dies. It is intended to multiply.
“...and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:2, NKJV
Love makes the world go around
If love wanes or fades, Cupid can strike again at any time to rekindle the flame. If the flame dies, he can shoot his arrow to spark a new flame. People have said, “Love makes the world go round.” The word Valentine is associated with that type of love that spins us around. Even when there isn’t an intimate relationship, love can be celebrated with family and friends on this special day. However, it is a time when we want to have that special someone to spend time with in a loving and appreciative way. The word also represents the heart – the life-line that sustains the body, and is a link that stimulates our emotions. This vibrant and hot color, we know as red, radiates with passion, compassion, and bliss. Real love between two people can seemingly synchronize the body, mind, and soul of the relationship. It can create a sense of fulfillment for which one would want to last forever.
Celebrate Your Love Story
Valentine’s Day is a time to recognize and celebrate the love between two people. Family and friends also celebrate each other on this day. Never give up on love. It is what we were created to have. Love is truly divine.
Cupid is still on the job and will strike anytime – sometimes when you least expect it.
