The Power of Faith
It’s Martin Luther King Holiday, a time to celebrate and reflect on how King affected America, especially the freedoms that resulted for African Americans. This was a man who was born before his time, one who lived and died too soon. But because of him, and all who stood up beside him, my children and yours are able to have freedoms that he did not. It was his dream. And he paid the ultimate price (death) for it to come true.
Dr. King was a gifted speaker and a natural orator. He spoke with competence, dignity, and power. He had a strong foundation of faith, and was well educated, practiced non-violence, and was purpose-driven.
The Power of Persuasion
Martin was a powerful and persuasive speaker. We can all take a few tips from King. When he spoke, it was as though time stopped so that all ears could listen. When you speak, you want your listeners to do the same.
The Power of Courage & Decision
If you want to persuade someone to change, it’s important to know how to be an effective and confident communicator. Martin Luther King mastered the art of speaking. But unlike King, you have nothing to fear when you speak, except your own personal fear of being nervous because all eyes are on you.
“We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.”
— Martin Luther King
Or there could be another reason. His challenge, however, wasn’t as simple as that. His life was at stake every time he spoke. But he spoke anyway. And because of this powerful and influential speaker and man of faith, we are honored to freely celebrate this day each year.
His courage to speak paid off. He commanded attention with his presence and changed the world with his message.
